RJ establishes new production area for semiconductor technology

24.02.2023

In future, RJ Lasertechnik will manufacture components for semiconductor production. Assemblies for linear motors will be laser-welded in the new production area.

RJ Lasertechnik GmbH has started building a new production area and has set up a new welding room for this purpose. When completed, this will be equipped with three welding systems and a total of seven welding workstations.

As part of the primary expansion stage, a self-designed and manufactured 3-fold welding system (rear right in the picture) with three self-sufficient welding stations has now been put into operation. Assemblies for linear motors are laser-welded on this system.

In the new RJ system, thin-walled titanium covers are welded onto milled components. A leak test is carried out after this processing step. A third laser system with a single station is used for preparation and welds small sealing plugs and mold lids, which also have to be guided and inserted manually. A measuring machine can be seen at the back left of the picture, which measures the components before and after the welding process. The helium leak tester for testing the tightness of the welded parts is located in front of it on the left.

To ensure optimum temperature and cleanliness conditions, a filter and heating station was installed in the new work area, which can be seen in the front right-hand section of the photo. In the second expansion stage from mid-2023, a further welding system manufactured inhouse, also with three workstations, will be installed and commissioned from mid-2023. There will then be a total of seven welding workstations, a test station and a workstation for measuring.

For RJ Lasertechnik, this expansion not only represents an expansion of production, but also a strategic realignment. Until now, individual machines or smaller series have been produced as contract manufacturers. With the establishment of the new division, RJ is taking the step towards series production, which will require three-shift operation on five working days from next year
